Independent anniversary: FG declares Monday, October 1, public holiday

Federal Government has declared Monday, October 1, 2018, a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 58th independence anniversary.
The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (rtd), who made the declaration on behalf of the federal government, congratulated Nigerians on the anniversary and urged them to sustain President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s efforts towards maintaining and strengthening the peace and unity of Nigeria.
Dambazau emphasised government’s commitment towards promoting national unity, economic growth, social and political development based on democratic principles, adding that in the past 58 years, Nigeria had made a lot of progress and positive impacts not only on the lives of its citizens but also on infrastructural development, as well as international relations.
